The experiment branches from the FESOM2 reference circumpolar simulation in 1991. In the EWS experiment, temperature and salinity changes associated with the ice shelves in the eastern Weddell Sea, between 29°W and 9.5°E, are switched off. The dataset provides model output south of 60°S and was produced to investigate the influence of eastern Weddell Sea ice shelves on Southern Ocean conditions within the OCEAN ICE project.
