These are the modelled variables used in the work "Current reversal leads to regime change in the Amery Ice Shelf cavity in the 21st century". There are two runs forced by the r1i1p1f2 and r2i1p1f2 member of UKESM1.0-LL (r1.tar and r2.tar). The variables are monthly only. Each tar.gz file in the r1.tar and r2.tar contains three netcdf files - historical, ssp126 and ssp585. The historical simulation is from 1976-2014, and the two ssp simulations are from 2015-2100. More details can be found in the manuscript. Additionally, there is a single variable of ice shelf basal melt (fwfisf.tar.gz) if you want to save your storage space. The short description of the variables uploaded: fwfisf: Ice shelf melting/freezing. The negative/positive values are melting/freezing. votemper: Seawater conservative temperature. vosaline: Seawater absolute salinity. vozocrtx: Zonal velocity. vomecrty: Meridional velocity. ice_cover: Sea ice fraction. icethic_cea: Sea ice thickness. vfxice: Sea ice growth/melting. sossheig: Sea surface height. sozotaux: Zonal surface stress from either ice or wind. somerauy: Meridional surface stress from either ice or wind. Other variables may be avaiable from the corresponding author upon request. We did not save high frequency data. If you find these useful, please cite our work: Jin, J., Payne, A. J., and Bull, C. Y. Purpose

To provide the ocean and sea-ice model outputs used to investigate projected changes in ocean circulation, water properties and ice-shelf basal melting within the Amery Ice Shelf cavity under historical and future climate forcing.

Statement

The dataset contains monthly ocean and sea-ice model outputs from two simulations forced by the r1i1p1f2 and r2i1p1f2 ensemble members of UKESM1.0-LL. Each simulation includes a historical period from 1976 to 2014 and future simulations under SSP1-2.6 and SSP5-8.5 from 2015 to 2100. Model outputs include ocean temperature, salinity and circulation, ice-shelf basal melting/freezing, sea-ice properties, sea-surface height and surface stresses. The outputs were used to investigate projected changes in ocean circulation and ice-ocean interactions within the Amery Ice Shelf cavity.
