Temporal variability of the hydrographic changes on the Antarctic continental seas
This dataset contains anomalous timeseries of temperature and salinity profiles over 15 major shelf seas around Antarctica. The base data is generated by removing the spatially-varying climatology from the raw profile compilation used to generate the climatology field. Raw profiles are available at https://doi.org/10.17882/99787 and the climatology product is available at https://www.seanoe.org/data/00928/103946/. The anomaly profiles are binned into a regular spatial grid with 20km spacing, the searching range of each bin is determined by 200 by 200 km square at each grid point. Anomaly profiles are put in ascend time order in each bin. These binned profiles timeseries are subsequently used to construct anomaly profile time series over major continental shelf seas bounded by geographical polygons as illustrated in the displayed figure. This dataset provides a pan-Antarctic survey of observation based temporal variability of temperature and salinity field.

- Statement
- The dataset was generated from a compilation of raw temperature and salinity profiles. A spatially varying climatology was removed from the raw profiles to generate anomaly profiles. The anomaly profiles were binned onto a regular spatial grid with 20 km spacing, using a 200 × 200 km search range around each grid point. Profiles were ordered temporally within each bin and subsequently used to construct anomaly profile time series for 15 major continental shelf seas around Antarctica.
